Vogue Australia: Phoebe Tonkin’s Miami sojourn featured a sunrise swim, James Turrell, and plenty of Chanel resort wear

When you’re sitting front row at a fashion presentation on Miami Beach, you have to dress the part. For Australian actress Phoebe Tonkin, the ocean served as the main point of reference. She chose a cerulean three-piece to attend Chanel’s latest presentation, a staging of their resort 2023 collection on the Faena Hotel’s sandy doorstep. Tonkin’s iridescent look, accessorised with Coco Crush earrings and the maison’s fine diamonds, glimmered against the backdrop of red-and-white striped parasols, designed by Baz Luhrmann and Catherine Martin. The pastel sky, on the cusp of dusk, provided the ultimate accompaniment.

But before the show, Tonkin had been busy acquainting herself with the Magic City. She began her day with a swim at sunrise (in Chanel, of course—what else?), and then paid a visit to Miami’s Superblue Museum, an exhibition of large-scale immersive and interactive works by artists like teamLab, Es Devlin and James Turrell.

Below, Tonkin takes us through her visit to Miami.
