Skin Care Edit: My Regime – Phoebe Tonkin

Phoebe’s probably best known for her role as Hayley on The Vampire Diaries and The Originals, boasts an Instagram following of 2.8 million (at last count!) and models for brands like Matteau and Glossier.

Talented, beautiful and stylish – when I first met Phoebe I was taken by her incredibly kind, sweet and unfussy disposition as well as her appreciation of beauty, instilled by her mother at a very young age. Here, she talks routine, travel trips and her one guilty pleasure …

What is the first thing that you do in the morning?
I always drink half a litre of water first thing in the morning and add lemon if I have time.

What is your morning skincare regime?
I cleanse in the shower with a lactic cleanser, Apply SkinMedica’s TNS Essential Serum, Teamine Eye Cream for brightening, and spritz my face with Cosmedix Reflect which is an SPF Moisturiser for every day.

What is your evening skincare regime?
After cleansing I apply Cosmedix Serum16 alternating with Shani Darden Retinol every second night. Teamine Eye Cream and Chanel La Solution 10 as my night cream. Two nights a week I like to exfoliate, usually with Cosmedix Detox Scrub. And Sisley Back Rose Mask is a favourite as a once-a-week sleep-in mask for hydration.

What’s the last thing that you do before going to sleep?
Take my vitamins. Oh, and set like 7 alarms so I get up in the morning!

What are the three skincare products you can’t be without?
Sisley Black Rose Mask for traveling, Cosmedix Reflect SPF daily and Chanel La Solution 10.

What are the three makeup products that you can’t be without?
Chanel Matte foundation, Glossier Brow Gel and Lucas Paw Paw.

How about some favourite body products?
I love natural almond oil and make my own body scrubs mixing brown sugar and coconut oil.

The Base by LB self-tan is also great when I need a bit of colour.

Do you have any favourite skin or beauty secrets or tricks?

Favourite tips for travelling?
To drink so much water on the plane! I have also started taking chlorophyll in a dropper bottle to add to my water on flight. And I never wear make up on the plane.

How do you maintain your skin whilst travelling?
I always stick to my skin care regime while I’m away.

If I only have carry on luggage I decant anything I can’t take on the plane into smaller containers.

What’s your everyday makeup regime?
I like to keep it simple while I’m not working. Chanel Matte Foundation is nice mixed with a moisturiser for a lighter coverage. I do my brows and apply a lip tint.

What regular treatments do you have to maintain your complexion?
Regular facials at Melanie Grant while I’m in Australia. I really like the Organic Radiance treatment combined with Red Light Therapy – especially before an event. I see Shani Darden in Los Angeles. I am obsessed with red light therapy.

My diet is simple and I eat lots of healthy whole foods. I like roasted sweet potato or brown rice or fish with steamed veggies, olive oil and sea salt.
